This project aims to explore the varied experiences of Sri Lankans living in Singapore using conversation as an art form. The artwork explores the ways people create spaces for themselves within new environments and how they build communities to create a sense of belonging. The objects collected are personal items from the collaborators that serve as reminders of home and comfort and manifest as a museum of conversations with Sri Lankans in Singapore.

Hanaa Cassim (b.2002, Sri Lankan) is currently pursuing her BFA at LASALLE College of the Arts. Her current practice involves drawing, collage, and printmaking. Her works focus on themes of identity and belonging while drawing inspiration from Sri Lankan culture. She is interested in the social aspects of art that can create opportunities for individuals to engage, converse and connect.
