Shannon Sim Hui En
Shannon Sim Hui En (b.2002) is an aspiring Singaporean artist currently studying Fine Arts at LASALLE College of the Arts. Her body of work represents a broad spectrum of psychological distresses, whereby she has a passion for the nature of emotions. She studies how the environment affects people’s behavior and emotional states. Through sculpting and painting, she hopes to raise awareness about Singapore’s prominent issues, such as gender stereotypes and mental health stigmas, in her current artwork.

“COPYCAT” is a wall tapestry sculpture which discusses one's full indulgence in the culture of mimicry that has been prevalent in our communities through the ages. As we grew up in an environment with an obsessive need to mimic behaviour that appeals and conforms to society standards, our instinct is as such. The resulting loss of individuality in our habits and other things that shape us is inevitable.
