Muhammad Zulfadly Bin Abdul Manap
Zulfa's (b. 1991, Singapore) artistic practice investigates and questions the complexities of the phenomenology of how religion, culture, and politics intertwine and shape social structures and perceptions. As an individual who stands at the crossroads of multiple minority groups, he is currently experimenting with the function of art/artist as tools to amplify marginalized voices and creates discourse and civic engagements. He has participated in exhibitions across Singapore, Germany, the UK, and China. Recent exhibitions include Seni Kita (Kamal Arts Gallery, 2021) and Shanghai International Paper Art Biennale 2021.

Micro-gestures, Sensitivities and Micro-changes
Medium:
Dimension:
1x Aluminium Signboard, 21 x 30 cm, 4X Acrylic Signboards, 15cm x 18cm, 21 x 30cm
Taking up the role of a researcher, Micro-gestures, Sensitivities and Micro-changes sees ZULFA's ongoing research on the phenomenology of the implementation of bio-politics & anatomo-political strategies in Little India Post-2013 riot and how it is a by-product of state-driven policies on mobility and migrant management in Singapore, which seek to maximize order and control over migrant bodies and subjects. This works employs the fabrication of customized reactionary but neutral, recontextualiszed signanges as a dialogical prompt for civil discourse on migrant workers issues in Singapore.
