Danielle Poon is a Singaporean multidisciplinary artist whose mediums of choice are painting, resin, jewellery-making and photography. Her practice reflects upon notions of the archival, psychology and preservation. Danielleโ€™s work is stylistic, relying on process-driven treatments as well as the use of unconventional mediums and techniques.Danielleโ€™s works are often inspired by an amalgamation of nature, memories and astronomy. She has showcased in group exhibitions locally, such as the Angelico Art Award in 2016 and 2018, Pameran Poskad 2018, The LASALLE Show 2020 and Streets of Hope 2020. Her photography has been showcased in an online publication by Office for the New Evangelization in 2016. dolefulpalettes, launched in 2018, is the brainchild of Danielle. As an artist-entrepreneur, it is a brand by extension of her practice. Her creations are first and foremost artworks, elevated into individually handcrafted bespoke wears, with collections ranging from every day to formal, encompassing designs specific to her brand.Currently, Danielle is pursuing a Bachelor in Fine Arts at LASALLE College of the Arts.๐™’๐™–๐™ก๐™ ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐™‡๐™–๐™—๐™ฎ๐™ง๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™ (2020) consists of 5 paintings made individually but presented as a pentaptych. Conceived from fieldwork observations and art journaling, the artist projects her findingsโ€”both spatial and psychological, onto canvas through dispersive mark making with the intention of clarity, renewal and healing.According to numerology, 5 symbolises mercuriality of circumstance. Through the evolution of nuance and placement of colours, the artist seeks to evoke a sense of stability, relief and placidity in the viewer, in the hopes that they too can be healed.
