This documentary is made from research materials of a fieldwork with the participation of different individuals. These participants were involved in a durational upcycling project in Singapore (Renew Earth Sweatshop). With the audience as participants, a discursive film and project that aims to inform and reflect on Singapore’s relationship with the contemporaneous environmental issue is produced. The documentary is a work-in-progress.


Xiao Peng

Xiao Peng is an artist and filmmaker who lives in Singapore. His prior experience in non-fiction filmmaking was what started his research in community-based art projects.

This has led him to his current exploration in research-led art practices. His projects investigate social action in urban environments where the subcurrent addresses the politics between people and land. His films were screened in film festivals and he has participated in group exhibitions; Chrysalis, Desiring Bodies, Alliance Française de Singapour (2021), ONO- Bridging Normalities, LASALLE College of the Arts (2020), Incheon Port International Photo & Video Festival, Korea (2021).
