Video art aims to introduce students to the medium and allow them to understand the art form through exploration and experimentation. It allows the students to work with video as a medium, tool and artform, using new ideas and concepts through this dynamic form. Through this course, students learn not only about screening, projection, installation, lighting, and other such properties of video art, but also about collaboration and the world around us. In a world that is increasingly going digital - regardless of the pandemic - this course equips students with important skills such as documentation and creative expression through a virtual medium. With this understanding of the methodologies of video as an art form in contemporary art practices, students are able to engage in discourses about their own work and the work of other artists who use such media.
